Younger Futhark

The Younger Futhark is not a single character set but a host of separate character sets that devolved from Futhark and Futhorc.

The Younger Futhark character sets are the most recent but least known. They are a example of what happens when knowledge is passed between cultures as time progresses. These character sets were used almost exclusively for written correspondence, and there is no historical evidence Younger Futhark ever being used in divination.

Younger Futhark is a mix several character sets and phonetic values, both Latin and runic. The original names the compilers gave to the characters of these sets are lost to us, as well as their definitive meanings. These examples are only presented here for the sake of completeness and for comparison to the other runic sets. Where possible the characters have been linked to runes in the Elder Futhark.
